Meiko celebrates its 30th anniversary

Meiko will be officially celebrating its anniversary on its stand at HRC 2024, which takes place at London’s Excel on 25-27 March

Originally established in January 1994 by Bill Downie, when it employed just 10 people working from a small unit near Heathrow airport, Meiko, a multimillion-pound provider of warewashing and food waste management solutions for caterers of all denominations, will officially be celebrating its 30th anniversary on its stand at this year’s HRC exhibition, which will take place at London’s Excel on 25-27 March.

Meiko’s DNA came from its parent company in Offenburg, which is now over 95-years old, where Meiko is a foundation company with no shareholders, thus enabling its profits to be reinvested in research, development and the training of apprentices.

The company’s ethos is to make the world a cleaner and more environmentally friendly place, which it feels is only achievable if it listens to customers and changes and adapts to the challenges facing it from decade to decade, whether it be staffing, food trends, the economy or the needs of the planet.

This ethos carries over to Meiko UK and continues today. Meiko’s UK’s staff, several of whom have been with the business since day one, are, according to Paul Anderson, Meiko’s managing director, the ones who have made the company what it is. He says: “Anyone dealing with Meiko UK, Germany and all the offices around the globe, all say the same thing; that our staff and the way we do things is different, we are a family and we really do care.”

Nowadays, Meiko design, develop and manufacture some of the most technically advanced products, all with the needs of the customer and planet in mind, but Anderson fervently believes that people do business with people. He continues: “Whether you are an end user or a partner, we work as part of the team and are always ready with help, advice, cost analysis and planning, through to training and full after sales support. We just want it to be right for the customer.

“At Meiko UK we could not be prouder to celebrate three decades supporting our industry with innovation and service that genuinely make a difference to people's lives.

“Here’s to continuing the legacy we have at Meiko, a way of doing business which survives the test of time.”

Meiko UK will be celebrating on Stand H1811 at HRC 2024.
