Ipswich care home launches lunch club

Avocet Care Home is inviting over-65s in its local area to join residents for a home cooked roast lunch and dessert on the first Wednesday of each month

An Ipswich-based care home has announced the launch of its latest venture, which is aimed at building new links with its neighbours and the local community.

Beginning from Wednesday, March 6th Avocet Court Care Home is implementing the Avocet Over 65s Lunch Club, which will continue to take place on the first Wednesday of each month thereafter, when the home will open its doors to local people who will enjoy a special lunch-time treat in the form of a delicious home-cooked roast and a scrumptious dessert.

Led by the home’s head chef, Kelvin, the Lunch Club will offer more than just food – it will also help to foster new connections and provide companionship, especially for those people who are trying to cope following the loss of a loved one..

Chef Kelvin says: "We'd like anyone over 65 who is seeking friendly faces in a welcoming environment to come and join us for lunch, laughs, and the opportunity to make some new friends along the way."

The Lunch Club, which opens at 1pm is free for all guests, as a gesture of support to those who may be feeling the pinch of rising living expenses or who are simply seeking to add a bit of joy to their week.

Spaces for the lunch club are limited, so potential attendees are encouraged to reserve their spot early by contacting Avocet Care Home on tel: 01473 943042 or by emailing Kelvin at [email protected]o.uk
