Aria Care hosts Alice in Wonderland summer social at Thames View
The event took place at Aria Care’s Flagship home in Thames Ditton and included lots of magical treats including Queen of Hearts shortbread, matcha tea cake with edible clock faces and a chessboard made from Belgian chocolate
Aria Care recently welcomed over 180 guests and colleagues from its communities to its summer social held at its flagship home, Thames View in Thames Ditton.
With a sumptuous, surprise-filled Alice In Wonderland themed afternoon tea, Aria Care’s commitment to its ‘zero to landfill’ policy even extended to its edible sugar-paper crafted menus and hand-crafted chess boards with edible chess pieces. The spectacular gardens that lead onto a quiet part of the Thames provided the perfect backdrop with whimsical sideshows, to entertain.
The event also celebrated the graduates of Aria Care’s Leadership Programmes, recognising colleagues who graduated its Inspiring Leaders and Emerging Leaders programmes.
Aria CEO Caroline Roberts who thanked colleagues with flowers says, “Days like this remind me why what we do matters so deeply and why the people here today are the heart of everything we stand for. Running a care business isn't just about strategy, operations, or even growth. It’s about people. It’s about compassion, dignity, and showing up every day with the determination to make someone else's life better. Each of you do that, day in and day out.
“This is a moment to pause, to say thank you, for your kindness, your integrity, your teamwork, and your relentless drive to ensure the continued success of the company – but first and foremost the quality of care you all ensure is delivered each and every day.”
James Clear, Aria’s director of hospitality and Aria chefs provided an exquisite range of sweet and savoury treats designed to delight both the eyes and the taste-buds leaving guests feeling utterly spoiled. Clear says: "The Alice in Wonderland theme gave our team a chance to be extra creative and showcase all their talents. We wanted every element of the menu to prompt joy and fun, including the menu itself, which was completely edible. Guests enjoyed lots of magical treats from mini blinis with quail’s egg and smoked celery salt to Queen of Hearts shortbread and matcha tea cake with edible clock faces. Even the chessboard was made from Belgian chocolate!

“For us, mealtimes are much more than the food we eat and the nutrition that gives us, they’re also social occasions that should delight all the senses. People eat with their eyes first, so it’s vital that food not only tastes fantastic but looks exciting and interesting too. We promote hospitality from the heart, and creating memorable dining experiences like our Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea demonstrates what an imaginative team I work with."
Clear also thanked Aria’s suppliers including Brakes, EF Food and Liquidline for generously supporting the event.
