Catherine House hosts craft fair to showcase local artisans' work

The craft fair, which featured an array of stalls selling home made and local produce, was attended by home residents and the wider Frome community

A Frome-based care home recently hosted a craft fair that was designed to showcase the town’s talented small businesses and to further foster cordial community connections.

Hosted by Catherine House Care Home, the event featured an array of stalls fronted by local artisans including Helli Bakes, Bespoke Flowers Somerset, Arty Farty Crafts, and many others, providing an opportunity for both residents and other visitors to support the creativity thriving within the local community.

"We are thrilled to have welcomed the people of Frome to our Craft Fair," says Catherine House Care Home’s manager, Sherin Anup. "Events such as these like these not only highlight the incredible talent within our community but also provide invaluable opportunities for our family members to engage with their neighbours and support local businesses. We are immensely grateful for the support of Frome Nursing Home and all those who contributed to making this event such a success."

Highlighting the care home’s dedication to promoting community engagement, Chef Palden delighted visitors by producing a spread of delicious hot dogs and burgers, which were washed down with fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies throughout the day. The smoothies, a refreshing addition to the fair, were made possible through the collaboration with Frome Nursing Home's Chef Ben, who lent his expertise in devising recipes that used the produce sourced from local fruit and veg supplier SK Fruits.

Support and camaraderie extended far beyond the care home's walls, as the team from Frome Nursing Home joined in the festivities. Embracing their "Healthy Juice January" campaign, staff from Frome Nursing Home walked the streets, distributing freshly made juices and spreading cheer amongst residents and passersby.

The event also encouraged the enthusiastic participation of Sharon and Kim from Catherine House and Kim’s seven-year-old daughter, who eagerly lent a hand in distributing smoothies. Their involvement exemplifies the intergenerational spirit and commitment to community involvement that is so cherished by Catherine House.

Family members of Catherine House revelled in the opportunity to interact with the vibrant stalls, support local businesses, while also and connecting with their neighbours and thoroughly enjoying this latest in a whole series of events that Catherine House regularly hosts for both residents and the wider Frome community.
